Recognise and Respond: A Practical Workshop on Patient Deterioration
In this interactive, hands-on workshop, participants will build confidence in recognising and responding to the deteriorating patient. Through real-world scenarios and guided simulation, you’ll learn how to apply a systematic approach to identifying early warning signs, conduct and interpret vital signs effectively, and communicate concerns using structured frameworks such as ISBAR. Whether you’re a student, clinician, or radiographer, this session will strengthen your clinical judgement and sharpen your ability to act early.
Musculoskeletal X-Ray Image Interpretation
The interactive workshop is designed for the contemporary evidence-based trauma radiographer, aiming to develop your image interpretation knowledge and skills for conventional appendicular x-rays across the upper and lower limbs. Using a systematic approach you will practice interpreting anonymised clinical cases, differentiating between normal, variant and abnormal findings and how and when to communicate urgent and unexpected findings. Pathologies explored will include acute MSK conditions such as fractures and luxations, soft tissue signs, “incidentalomas” and MSK infections. Helping you to “See Something, Say Something” and exploring when and how to document your findings.
On the Same Wavelength: Clinical Supervision in MRS
Medical radiation practitioners are essential members of dynamic, fast-paced, and often emotionally demanding healthcare teams. Clinical placement forms a cornerstone of student learning within the medical radiation sciences (MRS), offering invaluable opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings and to build readiness for professional practice. Clinical supervisors are pivotal in shaping this journey, not only through the assessment of clinical capability but also by fostering confidence, critical thinking, and professional identity.
This interactive and case-based workshop invites participants to explore contemporary approaches to the supervision of MRS students. Together, we will examine current challenges and successes in clinical supervision and collaboratively develop a practical, adaptable framework aimed at enhancing alignment between students, supervisors, and academic teams. Come join us, so we can all try to be on the same wavelength.
